Dr. Devonish Talks Compliance and Coaching on The Buzz Daily News Network’s Raising the Bar
Recently, I had the pleasure of being featured on Raising the Bar with Steve Strum and Chris Budihas. We had a deep and insightful conversation about my career in practicing law, legal consulting, compliance, and my transition to education and coaching. We discussed the challenges of intergenerational collaboration, leadership, and management, and how development of emotional intelligence is critical for leaders to overcome those challenges to create cohesive and productive teams. I emphasized the importance of building a positive workplace culture in which people lead ethically and with empathy, support compliance, proactively protect brand reputation, and retain the right talent to deliver excellent customer service that allows organizations to retain profits and reinvest in the business and their people.

Spotlight ESG
Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability has merged and expanded into a more comprehensive domain known as Environment, Social, and Governance (“ESG”). What exactly is ESG and why is it a topic for discussion at most Compliance conferences and Board meetings? The answer depends on the industry, regulations, and mission and strategic objectives of an organization. When the answer to that question is determined, an organization can then consider mapping the functions, responsibilities, staffing, and budget necessary to comply with its ESG mandate. Sometimes it’s difficult to know where to begin the mapping process. In that case, if your ESG program is new, then an examination of resources and tools that are relevant to managing ESG risks related to a particular sector may be the starting point; however, if it’s mid-stage and requires a review, then a targeted risk assessment or compliance evaluation is helpful to identify gaps and create an action plan. Read more to view resources that may assist in generating ideas or figuring out the next step for building your ESG program.
