Dr. Emme Devonish Interviewed on the “Emotional Intelligence: Your Greatest Asset and Key to Success” Podcast with Host Jami Carlacio
In case you missed it last week, this is another opportunity to listen to the Emotional Intelligence: Your Greatest Asset and Key to Success podcast with host Jami Carlacio, where we discussed the topic of “EQ and Leadership: Empowering, Inspiring, Motivating.” Our conversation centered around emotional intelligence (EQ) and how effective leaders leverage EQ to empower others to branch out to reach their highest potentialSM.
We discussed various facets of EQ including some of the characteristics of empathy like active listening and vulnerability. Leaders who actively listen to their teams hear the words spoken as well as the emotions behind them, allow themselves the space to adjust their tone, and deliver rational and empathetic responses that foster connection and collaboration. Vulnerability demonstrates strength and authenticity, which further builds rapport. These types of interpersonal interactions create a more engaged and motivated workforce, which is essential for driving growth and innovation in any organization.
While experience, technical knowledge, and IQ are critical for securing a position, EQ is critical to thriving within an organization. Anyone can improve EQ through education, coaching, and practice.
