Business ethics concerns the accepted behavior and values that form the core principles and guidelines an organization follows in its interactions with individuals.  For most organizations, ethical decision-making encompasses values like integrity, respect, fairness, honesty, accountability, and right action. Ethics Coaching and Training applies research and ethical concepts blended with an organization’s values to facilitate discussions that enhance ethical decision-making and empower managers and senior leaders with the tools to resolve ethical dilemmas.    

As a SHRM-CP, Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, Certified North Star Coach, Certified Culture Coach, and Certified Executive and Leadership Coach, Dr. Devonish utilizes behavioral skills and coaching techniques to educate clients on ethical decision-making processes, ways to role model ethical conduct, and best practices for ethical leadership. The goal of ethics coaching and training is to normalize ethics in a manner that fosters inclusivity, openness, collaboration, cohesiveness, camaraderie, and productivity in a respectful workplace environment.

Research demonstrates that ethical leaders attract ethical employees. An organization that upholds integrity and accountability even when challenges arise, creates an environment with a workforce that trusts their leaders and the organization. This standard of “doing the right thing” is sometimes difficult; however, the reward for maintaining a positive brand outweighs the consequences of “choosing to do the wrong thing” because it’s easier. 

  • The Training Process: Depending on the needs of the organization, training is customized for senior leaders, managers, executives, Board Members, or teams. Training options include scenario-based workshops, interactive group sessions focused on a particular topic, facilitated discussions utilizing case studies based on real events, and hybrid training that incorporates research and organizational policies that may be delivered as a standalone program or as a joint initiative in partnership with Human Resources, Compliance, or Legal. Training is educative as well as a method to equip employees with the mindset and resources to make right decisions that align with an organization’s values, which strengthens corporate integrity, employee loyalty, and brand reputation.

  • The Coaching Process: Ethics coaching is specifically tailored for senior leaders, managers, and key personnel using a structured process to identify the desired end state. This collaborative phase ensures alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives and sets a clear vision for the future. Once the desired end state is identified, supporting goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) are identified through a co-creative critical analysis that connects to the organization’s key result areas (KRAs). A detailed action plan inclusive of milestones, tasks, and schedules for individual development as an ethical leader is designed to ensure accountability for achievement of SMART goals.
