The Coaching Experience
As a Certified North Star Coach, Certified Emotional Intelligence Coach, Certified Executive Coach, Certified Leadership Coach, and SHRM-CP, Dr. Devonish applies her coaching expertise and knowledge of human resources to assist clients in selecting and mapping out a viable career path that matches their skillsets, values, and beliefs to create a path that is consistent with their criteria.
Depending on the circumstances, a client may proceed directly with coaching to gain clarity of vision, and formulate a plan for career evolution. In some cases, a client may choose to deliver previous career assessment results to the coach or decide to partake in new career assessments and deliver those to the coach to further enhance the creation of a career trajectory.
The Assessment Process: Assessments that offer guidance on the type of work a client might prefer as well as characteristics of a client’s personality and workstyle are available online for no additional cost. When the assessments have been completed, the client shares the reports with the coach via a password-protected mechanism to protect confidentiality.
Leaders, executives, business owners, or anyone who manages employees or volunteers may elect to participate in the RocheMartin emotional intelligence assessment, which delivers an Emotional Capital Report (ECR) highlighting leadership competencies in ten areas. The ECR takes 10-12 minutes to complete and is designed to provide the client feedback on information about the way emotional intelligence influences the client’s behavior at work. Specifically, the client gains knowledge about how he/she manages his/her emotions, how he/she reacts to stimuli in his/her environment, and how he/she manages others around him/her. The ECR is appropriate for any leader from new managers to senior leaders, executives, and Board Members.
The Coaching Process: Coaching sessions begin with a Client Intake Form that prompts the internal examination process where the client details what’s most important for the client to achieve during the coaching sessions. This first step helps to determine the structure of the sessions and are used as a check to ensure the sessions sync with the client’s objectives.
Career coaching with or without the assistance of assessment tools is valuable to the transformation, transition, and evolution of a client’s development as a professional throughout various stages of a client’s lifecycle. Via the application of the North Star Framework©, Emotional Intelligence resources, and Executive and Leadership coaching expertise, Dr. Devonish partners with clients to achieve targeted objectives which may include promotion, relocation, lateral placement, selection of a profession or commitment to a vocation, or enhanced leadership capabilities.
The Growth Process
Career coaching is a co-creative and collaborative process between the coach and the client to define a current state, a desired end state, and a roadmap of tasks and milestones towards a future where the client thrives in the workplace. The coaching sessions sometimes feel intense because clients are challenged to face their fears and obstacles and answer powerful questions that cause them to reflect on their values, beliefs, behaviors, and mindsets. This process is intended to evoke awareness and facilitate growth so that the client takes ownership of his/her choices and understands the significance of each decision. This growth experience empowers the client through strengthening personal responsibility and professional accountability for long-term stability and success.
