Dr. Devonish Interviewed on WJCT News’ “First Coast Connect”

It’s Right Whale Week!

Today, I had the pleasure of being interviewed on WJCT News’ “First Coast Connect” in my role as an Amelia Island Whale Ambassador along with Barb Zoodsma, retired NOAA Southeast Right Whale Recovery Program Coordinator, and Greg Reilly, Marine Campaigner for the International Fund for Animal Welfare. You can watch a recorded version of the interview here:

We discussed the declining population of the North Atlantic Right Whale, why these whales are important in our ecosystem, and why we should work to save this species.

I hope to see you at the 2024 Right Whale Festival, November 2-3, on Amelia Island, which is where North Atlantic Right Whales come to birth their calves in the warm coastal waters from mid-November to mid-April! For more information, please visit the 2024 Right Whale Festival website.

For more information about protecting the North Atlantic Right Whale, please visit: NOAAOCEANAIFAWAWI, DOW, the 2024 Right Whale Festival, and Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors to learn how to get involved, what other conservation groups are active in this endeavor, and the reasons that preservation of this species matters.
