The Whales are Coming to Birth Their Calves
I am so excited that Scott Rowley, Board Member of the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors, and Barb Zoodsma, retired NOAA Southeast Right Whale Recovery Program Coordinator, joined me at the Rotary Club of Jacksonville-Oceanside to educate members on the North Atlantic Right Whale. Scott delivered an informative presentation on "Protecting the Endangered Right Whale," Barb provided her insights and expertise during the Q&A session, and I presented a brief update on my role as part of the OCEANA delegation that lobbied Congress in September for greater conservation efforts of the North Atlantic Right Whale.
For more information about protecting the North Atlantic Right Whale, please visit: NOAA, OCEANA, IFAW, AWI, DOW, the 2024 Right Whale Festival, and Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors to learn how to get involved, what other conservation groups are active in this endeavor, and the reasons that preservation of this species matters.
I hope to see you at the 2024 Right Whale Festival, November 2-3, on Amelia Island, which is where North Atlantic Right Whales come to birth their calves in the warm coastal waters from mid-November to mid-April.
